Vibram Five Fingers

Joe and I bought Vibram Five Fingers when we were in Utah.  If you've never seen them here is what they look like...

My sister asked me about them, so I thought I would do a review to let everyone know what I think of them!  First off, on vibramfivefingers.com this is what they say these shoes are made for:

"Our revolutionary design makes feet healthier by allowing them to move more naturally and freely.  The typical human foot is an anatomical marvel of evolution with 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 muscles and hundreds of sensory receptors, tendons and ligaments. Like the rest of the body, to keep our feet healthy, they need to be stimulated and exercised."

We liked the idea of allowing the foot to move in its natural form and the idea of gaining more strength in our feet.  Well, does it do what we hoped and dreamed it would?  Do we love them?  Would we keep buying them?

First, wearing these causes a lot of looks.  The first day we wore them (and second), we were in a mall and people kept staring at our feet.  Did it bother me?  No!  Since there are still a lot of people that don't know about them, the looks are there, but slowly they are getting known.  You also get people that say, "I want a pair of those!"  Definitely mixed responses.

Okay okay...I know you are wanting to know now what I think.  Well....I LOVE THEM!  They are my favorite shoes now!  I am an exercise lover, so they get use all the time!  The day after we bought them (this is not recommended tho), we wore them to climb Y mountain.  I have never had such great grip climbing a mountain before.  You have control over how your foot moves, so it allows you to grip better.  I find my workouts are harder now.  I could feel it through out my leg and also my lower abs when I use them when exercising.

I have a bunion on my foot.  I get a lot of issues with it, especially when I climb mountains or run.  I have not had issues with it at all though!  That is one of the best feelings!!

Some have a longer time getting use to them though.  I use to always wear no shoes around the house.  When I could take my shoes off, I did.  Joe on the other hand didn't have bare feet as much.  He usually just keeps his shoes on for a while after getting home.  I got used to them right away, but Joe is still getting use to them.  Each person takes different times...some up to a year.

There are a lot of different styles.  There are also two different kind of soles.  One is thinner than the other.  We got the thicker sole.  There is more support and running or climbing (I think at least) are better in these.  You can kind of feel rocks and such, but I think with the thinner sole it would make you feel the rocks more.

To sum this up.....we LOVE Vibram Five Fingers!  They are the best things!  I love how I feel in them!  It definitely was one of the best purchases!
