I grew up with a sweet and sour meatball recipe my mom would make! It is seriously delicious!! I asked Joe if he had ever had sweet and sour meatballs and he said no! I was then determined to make it! On Friday I had it planned! I felt so domesticated making the meatballs and sauce both from scratch! A year a go I would never have thought I could do that! Here is the recipe! THANKS MOM!!!
Meatballs Ingredients and directions:
1 1/2 lb Ground beef
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cracker crumbs (Saltine crackers)
1 cup bread crumbs
garlic (to taste)
salt & pepper (to taste)
1 onion
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put the above ingredients (EXCEPT THE ONION!!) in a big bowl and mix (get down and dirty and use your hands :)!) Form the mixture into round meatballs. Make them the size that you would like, but not too big!! Put the meatballs on a cookie seat (put TIN FOIL on for a much faster clean up!). Bake meatballs in the oven until browned. Chop up the onion and put at the bottom of a casserole dish! Place the cooked meatballs in the dish.
Sweet and Sour sauce Ingredients and Directions:
DOUBLE EACH INGREDIENT FOR MORE SAUCE!!
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1 cup water
4 1/2 tbsp. brown sugar
4 1/2 tbsp vinegar
1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Turn down the oven to 325 degrees. Put all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Pour the sauce of the meatballs that are in the casserole dish. Cover the dish (if you don't have a lid, use tin foil) and bake for 1 - 1/2 hours. The longer it is in the the better the flavor! If the meatballs look like they are cooking to long, turn down the temperature, but keep the meatballs soaking in the sauce!
Serve with rice!

They look just like I use to make. Good job girl! But extra sauce is really needed. I think the meatballs soaked it all up. :)
