Relief Society (Church Women group) Activity: For this we got to know each other and made these cute little magnets! They were made from tile and had vinyl lettering on them! There were different sayings like Love, Believe, Hope..etc! It was so much fun getting to know other sisters (especially since we are newish) and have some fun making the magnets! Sadly the magnets kept falling off my tile, so my husband used gorilla glue...we love that stuff :)!
Sugar cookies: We made sugar cookies! I used another recipe one time and made sugar cookies a couple years a go, but haven't made them since (and Joe has never made them)! We used a recipe from the blog Macaroni and Cheesecake. We quickly learned it really is better to use a stand mixer not a hand mixer....oh well it was too late haha! Some of the time we mixed it by hand! I also made my own sprinkles with sugar and red and green food coloring! We had to make them festive! They turned out delish! They were soft and moist...the best kind! And the icing was superb! YAY for having them turn out! :D
Roast beef dinner: We invited Joe's sister and her husband, also my old roommate, Katie, and her husband over for lunch on Sunday! We wanted to do a roast beef dinner with them! It was a lot of fun! We made the roast beef in a crockpot (we used a recipe at the blog My Tasty Treasures, but made some alterations!), Yorkshire puddings (these are what I grew up with and are AMAZING!), gravy and then we ate sugar cookies for desserts! Our guests so kindly brought corn and mashed potatoes! Everything turned wonderful and it was great getting together with everyone! Katie and her husband, Spencer, are moving down to Utah. We will miss them!
The Messiah: On Sunday, Joe and I attended the Messiah on campus! The choirs, band, and orchestra put on the Messiah! Every year in December the school puts this on. Joe and I both had never attended it before, so we both that it would be fun to do so! I am really in the Christmas spirit, so I am wanting to see and listening to all I can that is Christmas related! Seeing people play instruments (especially the flute - which I use to play) made me want to be in a band again.....yes I feel like a nerd saying that hahaha!
Now we are on our final week! Joe has a few finals this week and I finish work on Wednesday....I get 2 weeks and 2 days off, which will be super nice!! Wednesday evening I have a work party that Joe was able to figure out a way to get time off of work to attend! Friday the new building on campus and another building that they fixed up are getting dedicated, so Joe and I will be attending that! We are excited!!
Next Monday we are heading to Boise, Idaho! On Tuesday morning we have our interview for my residency (just think of the interview in the movie The Proposal - well maybe now exactly :P)! I am so excited for this! It came a lot quicker then I thought it would! After the interview (as long as everything goes fine) I will be sent a green card and such to say I am a resident! This means that I pretty much can do everything except vote...I am super happy! I can cross the border all I want too :)!! I hope all goes well!
My parents come next week! I will get to see them on Christmas day and am super excited! Joe and I are going to stay in Rexburg until Christmas day then head down to the family in Oakley, Idaho! I am excited for Joe and I to have our first Christmas together! :D
11 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!
